Life is just a game

Life is like a game of chess.
White moves first.
Am I allowed to move now?

Life is like a game of Monopoly.
If you pass go collect 200.
But is this money real?

Life is like a game of cards.
Make use of the hand you’ve been dealt.
Can I make this work?

“Life is a game, money is how we keep score”

What do I want?

Too many people telling me what to do.
You need to go to University, you need to buy a house.
But is that what I want?

I need to choose what makes me happy.
You’ll make no money doing that.
But isn’t it my choice?

We’re doing what’s best for you.
That’s not my decision.
So what will it be then?

“If it makes you happy, no one else’s opinion should matter”

Slow down

Slow down.
it’s not a race.
What time is it?

Take a minute to step back.
I haven’t got time for this.
Why are you in such a hurry?

I have to get to the finish line.
You have plenty of time.
Will I ever be happy?

“Don’t spend too much time trying to make a living, that you forget to make a life”

Think beyond thinking

Just think for a second.
It will only be a moment.
What did you think about?

Don’t think too hard.
I think I’m going crazy.
Why did I think that?

Think of your existence.
I think therefore I am.
But is it really me?

“As you think, so shall you be”

Where will life take me?

Some people think life is complicated.
Just go with the flow.
Why can’t I control my destination?

Bad things happen to good people.
Just make sure you learn the lesson.
What is the lesson to be learnt?

Life will take you one way.
Then suddenly take you another.
Where am I?

“Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations”

Do we all speak the same language?

There are roughly 195 countries in the world, but how many languages are there? As of this year, there is an estimated 7,111 languages spoken around the world, of which 150 to 200 of those languages are spoken by more than a million people; but what is language? In its definition, a language is a structured system of communication which involves a collection of dialects. However, the question still remains as to how and when language originated, some theories have argued that language originated from emotions, while others have held that it originated from rational and logical thought. Nevertheless, even if these were true, surely there must have been one universal language that all these other languages derived from; I mean what if we all speak the same language but just communicate it differently?

Lets think about it for a second, imagine if there was one universal language and all other languages that exist are just various interpretations of that one language. For example, “Hello” & “Hola” both have the same meaning but are just different interpretations of each other. In addition to this, there have been cases where twins have been know to create there own language to communicate with one another, but only they understand it. One known case from the 70s, is that of Poto and Cabengo, (real names Grace and Virginia Kennedy but they gave each those names) who are identical twins from America and they created there own language until the age of about 8. Linguistic analysis revealed that their language was a mixture of English and German, which therefore shows that they created their own language from their interpretation of those that already exist. So in a sense, it could seem that we all just have different ways of communicating the same language. On the other hand, when we speak, do we actually know what we are saying?

Nothing makes sense unless you understand it, we decode vibrational frequencies of what makes sense to us and of what we understand. Someone could be talking mandarin to you, but unless you understand that language, you will not be able to decode its vibrational frequency to know what is being said. I have always wondered whether we all sound the same to those who understand the language being spoken, so whether two people speaking mandarin would hear each other in the same way that two people speaking english would hear each other… I guess we”ll never know.

In my opinion, the only thing we innately understand is frequencies and energies, when we get certain vibes from people this is our way of communicating through vibrational frequencies and we can usually figure a person out without psychically speaking to them. So maybe this is the universal language that we derive our various interpretations (languages) from.

No Regrets

Life is full of regrets.
Don’t live in the past.
Why did I do that?

Everything happens for a reason.
Unexplainable.
But why?

Look to the future.
Things will only get better.
But how long will it take?

“Never regret anything because at one time it was exactly what you wanted”

What is love?

Unexplainable connection.
This is what love is.
But what does it feel like?

I love you.
I love you too.
What is this feeling?

Together forever.
No turning back.
Are you sure you want this?

“Never be afraid to say what you truly feel”

Consumed by Consumerism

According to reports, in 2019, retail e-commerce sales worldwide amounted to 3.53 trillion US Dollars. Between the US and China, these two largest economies are responsible for over $2.5 trillion worth of online e-commerce sales which make up more than 70 percent of the total generated worldwide. Here in the US there are some staggering statistics in regards to our shopping habits, but here are just a few to show you just how bad it is:

1. Americans spend more on shoes, jewelry, and watches than on higher education.
2. Shopping malls outnumber high schools in America.
3.An estimated two-thirds of the U.S. gross domestic product (GDP) comes from retail consumption.
4. The average American throws away 65 pounds of clothing per year.

So what is it that has us so obsessed with buying things... Lets find out

Consumerism by definition is the human desire to own and obtain products and goods in excess of one’s basic needs. However, in todays society, consumerism is a huge part of our lives with most of us are buying stuff that we don’t need, with money we don’t have, to impress people we don’t know. We are constantly being overloaded with advertisements everywhere we go. They say we see an average of 5,000 ads every day all carrying the same message that our lives will be better if you buy what we are selling, so they convince us that we need to keep up with the latest trends, and have us constantly looking to upgrade the quality of products and services that they sell to us. Some of us will think that we are not effected by this but everyone is (even myself), just some more than others. The reason why we don’t think that it effects us is because we don’t consciously see the message that is being portrayed, the ads that these large companies create use subliminal messages that only appeals to the sub-conscious mind so we end up buying these things thinking that we are making the conscious decision to do so but we are actually being told what to buy.

Society has led us to believe that by having these certain products, it will give us a certain level of status and or economic power. Social media has a massive impact on this, with people following their favourite celebrities and purchasing the same brands or products that they use or endorse giving them a false sense of confidence. For example, you find a lot of these celebrities who endorse certain make-up products (a lot of whom are insecure themselves) will portray that buying this products will give you the confidence you need and make you feel beautiful so that impressionable teenage girls will always be kept in a state of low self esteem trying to obtain a sense of beauty that doesn’t exist and will therefore be a constant customer because they believe this to be true.

Increased consumerism has shifted us towards materialism, competition and disconnection but we need to start shifting back towards our core values of spirituality, community and integrity. I know it’s easy said than done, but we need to just be happy with what we have or if you do end up buying things you don’t need, at least be aware of this before the things you own end up owning you.

What is truth?

There are three sides to every story.
Your side, my side and the truth.
But which one is true?

So many truths lead us astray.
Which path is the right way to go.
How can we tell what is true?

They say the truth will set us free.
We are slaves to the unknown.
Will we ever be free?

“We don’t actually know truth, we just take our interpretation of what we believe to be true”
